Do international students receive dormitory accommodation?
All international students arriving to study at NRU “MPEI” are provided with accommodation in one of the university campus dormitories.
How does the move-in procedure work?
Before arriving in Russia, students receive a move-in instruction by email. It includes the dormitory address and detailed steps to complete before check-in.
What documents need to be prepared?
In addition to personal identification documents, students must have medical certificates: a valid chest X-ray (fluorography), proof of measles vaccination, and confirmation of absence of HIV/AIDS, tuberculosis, and all types of hepatitis.
How is room assignment managed?
Room assignment for international students is carried out upon arrival by the Student Dormitory Department. Several factors are considered: availability of rooms, the nationality of current residents, religion, family ties, and field of study (to house students from the same institute or academic program together). The department does its best to consider students’ preferences.
How many people live in one room?
University dormitories offer rooms for two or three people.
What are the living conditions? Is it allowed to cook in the dormitory?
All dormitories are equipped with shared kitchens and bathrooms.
Cooking is allowed only in the kitchen. The use of microwave ovens, electric kettles, and other electrical appliances is prohibited inside the rooms.
How much does dormitory accommodation at NRU “MPEI” cost?
Accommodation cost depends on the assigned room and type of dormitory.
The approximate monthly fee is up to 3,000 rubles.
How far is the dormitory from the university?
All NRU “MPEI” dormitory buildings are located on campus within walking distance from the academic buildings. The furthest dormitory is about a 15-minute walk from classes.

The scholarship provided to NRU “MPEI” students is 2,200 rubles per month.
If I do not get a dormitory room, is off-campus housing an option? Is it safe?
All international students are guaranteed a place in the on-campus dormitory.
If a student prefers to live off campus, rental prices depend on current market rates and factors like proximity to metro stations and location.
Typically, renting a single room in an apartment starts at 25,000 rubles per month, excluding utility bills.
