MPEI presents its study programmes at an international education fair in Sukhum

The 5th International Interuniversity Education Fair took place in Sukhum on 14–16 October 2026. NRU “MPEI” was represented by Sultan Olegovich Makoev, Director for International Education, and Lana Yuryevna Kalikina, Deputy Director of the Directorate of International Education.

The fair, organised with the support of Rossotrudnichestvo, brought together ten Russian universities. School students, school graduates and their parents had the opportunity to explore the universities’ study programmes, learn about admission requirements and speak with university representatives.

MPEI representatives told visitors about opportunities to study at the university and graduates’ career prospects. Particular attention was given to engineering and energy, fields that play an important role in developing industry and energy infrastructure.

The presentation also covered the training of specialists for Abkhazia’s energy sector. In addition to energy-related fields, MPEI offers programmes in information technology and design. University representatives noted applicants’ interest in IT programmes.

In a report by Abaza TV, Sultan Olegovich spoke about students from Abkhazia studying at NRU “MPEI”. Despite the challenges of technical subjects, the students successfully complete their study programmes, and some Bachelor’s graduates continue their studies at the university. He noted that, although medical education is in demand in Abkhazia, engineering could also be a promising choice for young people interested in technical fields.

A separate part of the presentation introduced the “Nadezhda Energetiki” Olympiad. Lana Yuryevna Kalikina explained how to take part, offering school students another way to learn about MPEI’s educational environment.

Taking part in the 5th International Interuniversity Education Fair gave NRU “MPEI” an opportunity to present its fields of study to prospective applicants from Abkhazia, introduce engineering careers in demand and raise awareness of opportunities to receive a technical education at the university.
