The 5th International Interuniversity Education Fair took place in Sukhum on 14–16 October 2026. NRU “MPEI” was represented by Sultan Olegovich Makoev, Director for International Education, and Lana Yuryevna Kalikina, Deputy Director of the Directorate of International Education.

The fair, organised with the support of Rossotrudnichestvo, brought together ten Russian universities. School students, school graduates and their parents had the opportunity to explore the universities’ study programmes, learn about admission requirements and speak with university representatives.

MPEI representatives told visitors about opportunities to study at the university and graduates’ career prospects. Particular attention was given to engineering and energy, fields that play an important role in developing industry and energy infrastructure.

The presentation also covered the training of specialists for Abkhazia’s energy sector. In addition to energy-related fields, MPEI offers programmes in information technology and design. University representatives noted applicants’ interest in IT programmes.

In a report by Abaza TV, Sultan Olegovich spoke about students from Abkhazia studying at NRU “MPEI”. Despite the challenges of technical subjects, the students successfully complete their study programmes, and some Bachelor’s graduates continue their studies at the university. He noted that, although medical education is in demand in Abkhazia, engineering could also be a promising choice for young people interested in technical fields.

A separate part of the presentation introduced the “Nadezhda Energetiki” Olympiad. Lana Yuryevna Kalikina explained how to take part, offering school students another way to learn about MPEI’s educational environment.

Taking part in the 5th International Interuniversity Education Fair gave NRU “MPEI” an opportunity to present its fields of study to prospective applicants from Abkhazia, introduce engineering careers in demand and raise awareness of opportunities to receive a technical education at the university.

The International Youth Festival 2026 took place in Yekaterinburg from 11 to 17 September. It brought together 10,000 young people from 191 countries. Representatives of NRU “MPEI” who attended the major international event included international Master’s students Seyyid Abdullah Büker and Soroush Shabanianboroujeni, and PhD student Mohamed Ali Magdi.

The festival provided a space for young people from different countries to communicate, exchange experiences and discuss current issues in science, education, technology and culture. For the MPEI representatives, it was an opportunity to make new international contacts, represent the university’s student community and gain experience in communication and cooperation.

Seyyid Abdullah Büker said that the festival was more than a major event for him: it also offered a new perspective on international communication:

“For me, the International Youth Festival 2026 was more than just a festival. It was a real lesson in face-to-face communication and a source of inspiration. During those days, I realised that young people are not the ‘future’, but the present, changing the world right now.”

Meeting people from different countries was especially memorable for him. He said that, despite language differences, participants were able to find shared ideas and values.

Soroush Shabanianboroujeni highlighted the atmosphere of the festival and the opportunity to meet active and enthusiastic young people:

“Three days passed in a moment, but left me with a tremendous sense of motivation. I saw just how many talented, committed and courageous people there are around us.”

He also highlighted the opportunity to take part in discussions and hear different points of view.

As part of the festival programme, Seyyid Abdullah Büker and Soroush Shabanianboroujeni hosted Global Quiz, gaining further experience of international communication with participants from different countries.

For Mohamed Ali Magdi, the festival was an opportunity to feel part of a large international community:

“The International Youth Festival 2026 gave me something that is often missing from everyday life: a sense of belonging and belief in ideas. I arrived with questions and left with answers and new goals.”

Ali was also featured in an article by Rossiyskaya Gazeta about international participants at the festival, sharing the story of his journey to Russia and his studies at MPEI.

Taking part in the International Youth Festival 2026 gave MPEI students and young researchers another opportunity to expand their international contacts, exchange experiences and represent the university’s multinational community.

The 2026 graduation ceremony for international students at NRU “MPEI”, held on 23 July, was particularly significant for graduates from the Republic of Türkiye. This year, the first participants in the training programme for specialists for the Akkuyu Nuclear Power Plant received their diplomas.

NRU “MPEI” joined the project to train specialists for the Akkuyu Nuclear Power Plant in 2023. The programme is carried out with the participation of Rosatom State Corporation and Akkuyu Nuclear and aims to train highly qualified specialists for the nuclear energy sector.

Ahmet Gök, Education Counsellor at the Embassy of the Republic of Türkiye in Moscow, attended the ceremony to share this special occasion with the graduates. He congratulated the students on completing their studies and wished them professional growth and successful careers.

The graduation of the programme’s first students marked an important milestone in the development of international cooperation between NRU “MPEI” and its Turkish partners. It also demonstrated the high standard of training provided to specialists for the modern nuclear industry.

We congratulate the graduates on successfully completing their studies and wish them professional achievements, opportunities to fulfil their potential and success in their future work!
